About Wooden Houses

The history of wooden houses has a very old history. Wooden houses have been and are used in different cultures and geographies around the world.

It is known that wooden houses were built with wood obtained from local sources, especially in the Middle Ages, in Northern Europe and the American continent. These houses were generally built as solid and durable structures with roofs covered with wood logs or timber.

Traditional wooden houses have a very long history in Japan. These are known as structures such as "Machiya", a characteristic building style especially for temples, Shinto shrines and traditional residences.

Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland, etc.) have been industrial regions with a high concentration of wooden houses throughout history. The design and construction of wooden houses in these options are designed to suit the climate and resources.

Today, wooden houses have become a popular housing option by combining traditional designs with modern building materials and technologies. Wooden houses are a preferred option due to their sustainability, energy efficiency and natural beauty.

The wooden house construction process is presented in great detail and at length.

  1. Design and Planning: The first step is to contact local authorities to create the design of your wooden house and obtain the necessary permits. At the design stage, the layout of the rooms, their dimensions, the location of windows, doors and other details are determined. You should also consider issues such as energy changes, structural changes and design features of your wooden house.

  2. Foundation Construction: The foundation of wooden house construction is a critical stage for understanding the house. The foundation is constructed using concrete or wooden piles, depending on ground conditions and building design. Correctly building the foundation ensures the stability of the house.

  3. Wood Frame Construction: It is constructed using wood detail, wood frame or detailed structure. This frame combines the external walls, internal partitions and roof. The wooden frame creates the conditions of the house.

  4. Wall and Roof Construction: The exterior walls, interior walls and roof of the wooden house are constructed with wooden features. Exterior siding is added over wood panels or framing. The roof is completed with rafters, cladding and other materials.

  5. Insulation: The wooden house has sufficient insulation materials for energy exchange. By applying wall, roof and floor insulation, energy is saved and the comfort of interior spaces is increased.

  6. Electrical and Plumbing: Electrical wiring, plumbing and other plumbing are integrated into the wooden house. Electrical sockets, lighting fixtures and water drains are installed at this stage.

  7. Internal and External Coverings: Internal and external coatings of the wooden house, floor coverings, wall paints, flooring and other decorative constructions are based on these foundations.

  8. Exterior Cladding: The exterior of the wooden house can be painted or coated. This enhances the home's exterior appearance and level of protection.

  9. Distribution and Interior Arrangement: When the wooden house is completed, it is turnkey and the interior can be designed using the desired materials.

Protection

Maintenance of wooden houses is important. Regular painting is necessary to prevent wood from rotting. Roof and exterior maintenance is also important. Good maintenance extends the life of a wooden house. Maintenance of wooden surfaces increases their durability and preserves their aesthetic appearance.

  1.  Cleaning: It is very important to keep wooden surfaces clean. Dust regularly and remove stains immediately. Use a soft cloth or sponge for cleaning and avoid abrasive cleaning agents.

  2.  Wood Surface Protection: You can use varnish, oil, or varnish oils to protect wooden surfaces against water, stains and rot. These products preserve the natural beauty of wood and increase its durability. Depending on the type of surface coating product, it may be necessary to re-apply it at regular intervals.

  3. Regular Maintenance: Check and maintain wooden surfaces regularly. Wood care helps prevent the surface from aging and rotting.

  4. Maintenance by Wood Type: Maintenance requirements may vary depending on the wood type. Maintenance of different species such as oak, pine and maple may be different. It is important to use care products appropriate for the wood type.

  5. Painting and Varnishing: Painting or varnishing wood creates a protective layer and revitalizes its color. However, it is important to first thoroughly clean the surface and make the necessary preparations.

  6. Beware of Sunlight: Sunlight can cause the color of the wood to fade. You can use curtains or blinds to protect wooden surfaces from direct sunlight. You can also cover the wood with special products that provide UV protection.
